Southern Style Green Beans Quick & Easy

This past Easter my family got together and everyone brought a dish. One of our favorite sides is green beans, but I didn’t want to go the old “green bean casserole” route, instead I wanted something a bit different and with BACON! This is where my Southern style green beans were born, they taste like you’ve been at the stove all day, but only take a few minutes to put together and make. All you need is 4 ingredients- that you may already have in your pantry or fridge!

4 ingredient Southern Style Green Beans

Southern Style green beans take plain old canned beans to the next level, and taste like you’ve been cooking them all day!

  • 4 Cans Cut Green Beans
  • 1/2 Stick Butter
  • 1 Medium Chopped Onion
  • 1 2.8oz Pkg Cooked Bacon Pieces (Found in your grocers condiment/salad aisle)
  1. Melt butter and combine bacon and onion. Stir to keep from sticking.

  2. Once onions are nearly transparent add green beans and gently mix together.

  3. Cook until hot.

  • Amen to easy recipes! And bacon....lol but seriously this is something I can even whip up. Hubby just made me Brussels sprouts with bacon and melted cheese for my birthday yesterday and it was so delicious.
    • Bacon makes everything better. If I'm cooking for just myself I'll use turkey bacon to make it a little healthier, but hubby won't touch the stuff. Those brussels sound amazing!!
  • Always looking for green bean recipes to compliment bbq! This sounds like a delicious and easy recipe! I'm going to try it out at the next family gathering!
  • I'm DEFINITELY going to make these! I love beans and usually make them with mushroom soup and french fried onions but I'm ready for a new recipe!! Thanks for sharing.
