Crock Pot Baked Shells

It isn’t often that my 8 year old asks for left overs, but this is the one meal where we’re all bummed out when the leftovers are gone. I usually make a Crock Pot Baked Ziti, but I was shopping at Aldi and they didn’t have Ziti so I went for the shells.- I imagine you can use whatever shaped pasta you have on hand.

Crock Pots Make More Then Soups & Stews!

It only takes about 10 minutes to put this meal together (less if you have your meat precooked!), and only a few hours to cook, so it makes for a great meal to toss together during lunch and have it ready by dinner, so you can focus on more important things.


  • 1lb Ground Italian sausage. I use mild but you can use sweet, or spicy- depending on your family favorite.
  • 16 Oz Pasta shells.
  • 15 Oz Ricotta Cheese
  • 2 C Shredded Mozzarella
  • 2-4 Slices fresh Mozzarella (optional)
  • 24 Oz Spaghetti sauce
  • 14 Oz frozen meatballs
  • Italian Seasoning

Brown ground sausage until no longer pink & set aside.

In your crock pot mix together pasta, sausage, meatballs, 1/2 the ricotta and 1 cup of the shredded mozzarella with sauce, mix with about 1 1/2 cups of water (you want the mixture to be in a bit of a bath.).

Top with little spoonfuls of ricotta, fresh mozzarella slices, and shredded mozzarella. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning.

Set crock pot to high, make sure the lid is nice and tight, and allow to cook for 2-4 Hours. (I usually check it about halfway through as different pastas may cook faster.)

Serve with garlic bread and enjoy!!
