On The 8th Day Of Christmas My True Love Gave To Me: Kid Friendly Cake Mix Cookies

This recipe gets rave reviews both from the kids and parents. They are easy to have kids help make and they taste wonderful! Give em a try! Super thanks to http://theinspiration-network.com for this wonderful recipe!

The ingredients:

  • One boxed cake mix (today we are using a white cake mix)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup oil

Mix all ingredients together.  This will make your cookie dough.  Some of the cake mixes make a “sticky” wet dough.  Letting the dough rest on the counter or in the fridge for a few minuets will help it not be so sticky.  I have found that the white cake mix is the least sticky.  I don’t know why, it just is.

You will also need a cookie pan with a Sil-Pat or parchment paper and colored sugar.

Next you are going to roll your dough into balls about the size of a walnut.
(Mason Jar Mama Edit: if dough is too sticky, treat as drop cookies and simply drop onto pan and sprinkle with sugar)

Next you dip the top of your dough ball into the colored sugar.

Place cookie balls dipped in colored sugar on the pan/silpat.

Cook in a 350 degree oven for 9-13 minuets.  Take them out of the oven.  Leave them on the pan and while they are still hot press a Kiss into the middle of each cookie.  Of course parents should do this as the pan and cookies are very hot.

Let them cool on the pan.  When the chocolate is cool it will hold its shape
